Inspection Overview
Electromagnetic Rapid Motion Scanning (EMAT Rapid Motion Scanner, ERMS) is an innovative solution for rapid corrosion screening of storage tank shell plates. This technology overcomes the limitations of traditional point-based ultrasonic thickness measurements by performing area scanning directly through protective coatings without surface preparation or coating removal. It provides intuitive and continuous corrosion imaging data for localized inspection areas. During operation, the system uses an encoder to continuously and accurately record all remaining thickness measurements within the inspection area. The final report provides the total number of thickness measurement points collected and performs a comprehensive corrosion percentage analysis for the scanned area. This complete, data-driven inspection approach not only significantly reduces inspection time and surface preparation costs but also effectively eliminates missed defects caused by traditional random sampling methods, providing a more reliable basis for equipment integrity assessment and plant safety management.
To ensure data accuracy and inspection quality, all field inspection teams undergo strict dual qualification verification. Inspection personnel are not only certified through professional training provided by equipment suppliers and proficient in instrument operation, but also possess professional qualifications of Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level II or above from recognized organizations such as the Society of Non-Destructive Testing and Certification (SNTCT) or the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). Guided Wave Ltd. combines advanced EMAT imaging technology, rigorous quantitative reporting, and highly experienced professional teams to establish a reliable and efficient safety barrier for industrial equipment. We will promptly conduct an on-site storage tank assessment and develop an ERMS inspection plan based on the evaluation results.
※ Important Notes ※
During inspection, the surface temperature of the storage tank shell plate must be below 50°C. The applicable shell plate thickness range is between 5 mm and 100 mm. Each inspection item is calculated based on a measurement area of 30 cm × 30 cm.
